Minnie Mouse Themed Diaper Cake

I know this is not teaching related, but I had to share this adorable diaper cake I made with my mom for her coworker's baby shower!

Our first step was to buy the diapers! Then we explored pinterest for some inspiration. Using the mickey themed diapers and the ribbon we already had as additional inspiration, we came up with a theme idea: Minnie Mouse! We took this idea to Michael's and bought pretty much every Minnie item we could find!

At Michaels, we came across Mickey cut outs, felt shapes, craft packs and more, but eventually settled on polka dot ribbon, Minnie ears, and some clearance button packs.

We started by making three layers of diapers. We decided against the roll method because we thought this looked nicer and would be easier. We used a paper towel roll as the center, and placed the layers around it so they would line up properly. We used some elastic (pulled very tight) to hold it all in place.

Then we wrapped each layer with a ribbon. The bottom and top layers had two ribbons - first a solid red, then a slightly thinner polka dotted ribbon. The middle layer had one black and white polka dot ribbon.

Lastly, we added a bow and some finishing touches. We hot glued the bow on the front and added Minnie ears from Michaels and some buttons I found in the clearance section!
